FEAR ITSELF...
(begun Friday 9th September at 11.55am...)

*Dom, is that you out there?  You're the GateKeeper today?  Good man! *
I'd tidied up Theatricals as best I could, and hit the final Publish at 8.20am, though that's probably not what's shown on blogger.com...*winks..
An oddly mischief-free session it had been, with the iBurst modem never dropping much below 96% signal quality, and apart from the usual minor glitches with the font changing to bold all by itself at the start, it was how I imagined a corruption-free blog update should run... If you were the GateKeeper this morning Dominic, then bloody well done, dude...*claps... Even the BackFire frequency, usually cranked up to the max as I sit down here at the PC, was bearable... *startled...

Our Area Controller's had a change of heart?
Are you NUTS??!  I've known the bloke for going on eleven years, and there's absolutely no way he'll ever change, except to slide further down into criminal madness... *shrugs... You think that one mischief-free session would have hope flaring in my withered chest?  After that brutal awakening at 8.30pm last night? Forget it.

Ja, the Chop must have had his reasons for steering clear of me as I blogged earlier, and they'll have little to do with a softening of his attitude, that's fosho....
Quite possibly he was in a huddle with the Crumb and the Sex Offender, discussing what form of entertainment they're going to lay on for me while the GameWrecker's away, that ensures they won't have fingers pointed in their direction... *yawns...

Where were THESE three guys from, that were working on Balliram's driveway just outside his gates earlier today?  By 11am they'd gone, and left the job unfinished..*curious... Do they belong to the crew that are fixing the pavements higher up around the corner, and if so would they fix the worn-away hole on OUR driveway as well, or will the Controller insist that it's a private job and that he's paying for them to fix his drive?  *chokes...
One of them was clad in the now ubiquitous yellow bib that's supposed to signify legitimate employment..*snorts... It had me rolling my eyes at an article I found earlier this morning in a freesheet called the Durban North Fever, September 9th, Page 6  'Welcome that knock on your door' writes one Peter Davis, who goes on to assure you that your visitor will be clad in a yellow bib and bearing Census forms, and therefore it's perfectly safe to invite him or her indoors for a cup of tea... Has the Project not arrived in Mr. Davis' area of residence yet, or does he reside on another planet altogether?

The decision whether or not to let them in, won't be mine to make, unless the GW is out at the time, in which case they'd have to come back again, or leave the financial stats blank... *shrugs...
Who would care to lay odds that post-October, the papers will be reporting a string of crimes carried out by criminals posing as Census takers?  And you may can the howls of Pessimist, when you know I'm simply being realistic...

In Thursday's September 8th Daily News on Page 2, you'll find a picture of the second-in-command at Ethekwini Electricity, Mr. Wienand, and you may recall how I'd spoken to him recently and he'd been really pleasant?   And now there's the poor sod in all his glory, trotting out some major whoppers for the Muni Connect Project...*sad... Read 'Fire may have caused power outage' carefully, and see if you don't think some over-enthusiastic Eavesdropping Controller in the CBD has blown more than just a fuse, with the result that some major adjustments to the surveillance technology need to be done, and a non-existent fire has been created to deflect the rate-payer's justifiable rage as chaos is caused while all the power to the traffic lights has to be turned off for a freaking month!?  *breathes.....

I've saved what I consider the most interesting stuff till last.. That would have to be the contract killing of Warrant Officer Rakesh Maharaj of the Hawks, who lived here in Sparks Road.. Ag, sure his death was played down, and said to be the result of a fierce shoot-out in Welbedacht, when he'd been among the Team that responded to information on the killing of Sibusiso Sibaya.  Was Officer Rakesh surprised when he was told to go along with the guys that day?  Hell, if you know the answer to that, you're not stupid enough to say so, right?
Anyway, go check out the insert on Page 2 of what I see is now called the Westville Gazette at www.tabloidmedia.co.za 'Cop gunned down'.
Then hop over to Thursday's Sept. 8th Mercury at www.themercury.co.za and have a dekko at their front page 'Colleagues Mourn a good and brave man'.. See it?  C'mon man, there, where it says he also worked on the Sham slaughter case?

Now connect the dots if you can... Cynic that I've become, I've never quite gotten over the sheer wickedness that had that paid assassin taking out the innocent son along with his parents, and how easily those loose ends were tied up in a subsequent shoot-out, where two of the suspects were killed and shut up for good, while the contracted murderer lived to carry on his work for the corrupt cops involved...

Ring a bell there?  Did Warrent Officer Maharaj of the Hawks simply know too much about the SBV Heist and Barnabas' involvement?  Will Booysens follow it up, or does he answer to Anwar Dramat, and in turn to the ShaikBoyz?  Who pulled the trigger on Maharaj?  The same chap that cut young Kavir's throat so callously?
Shall I trot out the trite what goes round crud, knowing that it doesn't, and that for justice to be finally served, our Johan is going to have to pick a side and stick with it, ffs...  Under-cover moles and would-be double Agents be damned  *spews... Pick a side and quit the fence-hopping, which is pretty much the game that Balliram plays, and one that you let him get away with... *vomits...

I never met Rakesh, and I don't know whether I would've judged him to be a Good or a Bad man, though he looked pleasant enough.. I don't give a toot that Attorney Sham was a Banker for part of the stolen SBV heist millions either, his kid simply didn't deserve to be included in that massacre....
Who runs the surveillance technology for the Hawks?  Another of the Druglord Barnabas' proteges ?  The son of one of Schabir's close buddies?  Ai caramba!  *eyeroll...

LATER at 2.25pm

As I sit here at the desk I'm suddenly aware of earache and a change in frequency... You're back at your post then Chop?  Had a good day?  What poor unsuspecting idiot did you shaft today, or were you actually on official business for a change?

Saturday 10th September at 3.05am

Why do dogs howl at the moon?  When I'd looked up out of the kitchen window twenty mintues ago, it was hanging in the west in all it's brilliant beauty, and it's colour was so close to that of the signal enhancer frequency that upsets the dogs, I confess I wondered whether the moon itself is wirelessed...
*Before I forget, Nobby gave a single bark out on the front deck at 2.45am.. A visitor down there in the valley at this hour?  And now at 3.06am the first of Balliram's wirelessed nunus is activated nearby...*

Some small but disturbing events from yesterday began with the astonishing lack of interference online as I updated my blog at around 8am.. The lack of Backfire during the day had been pretty remarkable as well, though it was more than made up for when I booted up at 4.33pm...
I logged into mybroadband to find that I can no longer see the Avatars, though that change was I guess, supposed to be covered by a couple of outraged posters who said they'd suffered the same fate... *winks...

I'd clicked on Freshy's Swedish Twins clip without any expectations and remarkably, apart from a couple of brief seconds of buffering, the clip ran seamlessly..*falls on over... I honestly can't recall that ever happening before!
*A sudden wave of nausea arrives at 3.20am and I head back to Cloud 9 hastily...*

LATER at 10.55am

The GW mentioned that there'd been a Contractor, sans any uniform, up the Control pole next to the stopstreet at about 1pm yesterday, but he'd scarpered by the time the GW went back out fifteen minutes later... The results of his labours were pretty hectic as, sometime after 5pm Balliram's house alarm let rip and ran it's full course, followed by a dip to our lights, bad enough that the GW noticed, as the streetlight activated at 6pm...
Another really big dip around 7pm, and a third just before 8.30pm.. Whoever the bloke was that Balliram had up the Control Pole afterf 1.00pm has left many of us in an even more fragile situation than before.. Want to take a bow there Mr. Sutcliffe?  Allen?

Peace...
