SWIMMING BACKWARDS IN A SEA OF DOUBT...
(Begun at 5.30am Tuesday)
The warm Berg wind sprang up at about 9.00am yesterday.
The Parks droogs had been dropped off under the gumtrees sometime before... A noisy bunch of youngsters amused themselves down in the valley and across the way... (the Teachers are still Out).
It must of been after 9.30am that the wind suddenly picked up strongly. This didn't deter the droogs however.
By 10.00am I heard the first crackle of flames over the way, and found I could see several different fires had been set in the undergrowth.
Whether they had laid the fires themselves, or followed the time-honoured tradition of giving the matches to a willing child, it mattered not...
The wind encouraged the flames to grow swiftly and I headed in to fetch my camera. Missus Bert then called to say she could see the flames and was my house on fire? Kind.
I explained to her that there was nothing to be done and went back to taking pics of the droogs standing about watching the flames ..*grins...
the same wekkers that did the Line of Sight clearing last week. Still easily identifiable by their pristine blue suits and white Muni logo.
Unsurprisingly though, the pale-faced infiltrator was not present on this occasion (see pic) *beams...
Some time later, a small Fire truck pulled in behind the gumtrees and parked. They could probably see that much of the fire had lost its momentum, so they sat waiting it out.
Before they left they hauled the hose out and gave the last few determinedly smouldering bushes a good soaking.. Nice one.
Game over? Ah...but wait.... a small group of youngsters, with an obvious leader, headed down to the bushes by the stormwater drain..
Thinking they might be attempting to re-start the fire, I began taking more pictures...*cackles..
They left quite smartly and went back onto the Playing Field... I have the feeling that these particular youngsters (apart from their leader), belong to the GateKeepers at St. Theresa's....they certainly bore no resemblance to the rag-tag 'orphans' that mill about Sister Stephens when I visit....
All in all, an interesting distraction...
I went out at about 10.00pm last night to hear the 'real deal' cricket chorus sailing from the Senior Boys Hostel across the Freeway and into Rose Avenue/ Bernard?Road in Mayville.
This morning at 4.00am the background roar was constant though faint, over towards Tollgate...
Road Scarifier? No ways....
When the wind blows from the South (as it is today), we can sometimes hear the planes as they take off way down at Louis Botha...this noise is similar but ongoing...
Captain Courageous' so amiable facade slipped momentarily yesterday. Just before they left for work, Missus C had to pass the Plans back to me over the wall, for a missed signature...
I was treated to a deliberate display of irritation, as he burned at least an inch of rubber from his tyre treads, reversing out of the driveway. pfff...
Whether by disconnecting our PC, creating a disturbance on the TV, or whatever means he can think of, my Fowl-Feathered Controller has always avoided direct confrontation in a Masterful Manner...*laughing...
Ah - except for one unforgettable phone call that he bravely made a few years back.. It was to tell me that a recent burglary at his property had been due to the easy access via OUR boundary wall....*shrieks....
I had Basil come round to verify these claims... As a result Basil was adamant that nobody could have accessed Bali's property in the manner the Captain suggested.... and in retrospect, I have since then, successfully contacted the Courageous couple, on at least one of the cell phones that they insisted had been stolen during that incident....*grins...
What a tangled web they weave fosho....
Later:
11.45am and I sit on my verandah in the warm sun, and watch as two of the fire-starter Parks wekkers appear down by the drain in their muni blues, complete with matching floppy hats....*cute...
they inspected the bushes thoroughly and then wandered back off up the hill, towards the Senior Boys Hostel...
There has been no sound of grass-cutting, clearing or even the tractor, so what is it they do here in the area today? Interesting...
We are hoping to have a bigger than usual turnout at our CPF Meeting next week. der Kommissar has been asked to address the attendees....
As there are many young children that walk home unattended from schools in the Sherwood/Sydenham area, I would hope that progress has been made on the matter of Adrian Kingsley, alleged pedophile.
der Kommissar himself has a very young son, though no doubt due to the nature of his father's profession, a son that would be safe-guarded in the extreme.
There are many children less fortunate, and I suggest that the time is way overdue for this matter to be resolved.
Either Kinsley is guilty of child-molestation and is shut away, or he has been falsely accused and the Public should be advised of this...
Am I naive in thinking it a simple matter for the Sydenham and Mayville Stations to liaise responsibly together on this case, and to achieve a result one way or the other?
Adrian has been back adding to the graffiti on our boundary wall, judging by additional work done.
I have no idea when this took place, as he wisely chose to work in silence on his return visit...*grins... I have no problem with his artistic leanings. I do however have a problem with the charges made against him, and the apparent lack of action taken to prove him guilty or innocent...*frowns...
Its now 12.30pm and this time, there are now 4 Muni droogs congregated at the bottom of the valley (lunchbreak?).
A horde of youngsters swarm about the steep bank beyond in the bush, intent on a mission of their own... they are making the most of their enforced holiday due to the Strike action...
It is hard to imagine how they will ever recoup the hours of education lost to them...*shakes its pointy head.... Another ripple result of Dokter Sutcliffes stunning city management?
Time spent on never-ending, cost exhorbitant, self-congratulatory functions, and publicly embracing the Crooked. Time that would have been better spent campaigning against huge pay increases for fat-cats (himself included) and pay rises for those that genuinely deserve it - teachers, nurses and your average cop that puts his life on the line daily....*hawks....
Dream On right?
PS My blog records show a second blog in draft form and untitled, was published on 12th June. On scrolling through however, everything appears fine...*puzzled.
Is my Controller making adjustments and changes here on my blog, as he does to almost everything else on this PC? *cackles...
