ONCE THERE WERE GREEN FIELDS.....

(Begun Wednesday at 10.45am)
Way too many distractions this morning.... where to begin....
Last night was once again a light show of mammoth proportions on the Freeway bridge. If I had kept a log each time the huge machines come back to this section, would there be a clear pattern? Like at least once a month every month? Interesting....
The GameWrecker's assertion that the huge machine he saw causing the thunderous roar last week, was a road scarifier, may well be so.... however the 3 huge lumps of metal busy last night were something else entirely. Are they also made in Rumania?
How I would love to be handed a hardhat and allowed to walk among all the wekkers and the beautiful lights and the noise...*smiles...
Early this morning I went out in the dark and found the fat orange light (previously mentioned as either on No.72 Michan Rd's back stairs or the roof of the house in front of it), had changed to a bright white light....Haikona!
The fatty shining through the trees from the servant's quarters was the identical colour. So, the penny may just have dropped at last....*grins...
They can be run as either deep orange or adjusted right up to white... have I had it backwards all along?
I wouldn't be surprised at all *cackles...
I 'felt' that the hectic orange lights were if anything, somewhat more dangerous than the white, yellow or gold...pffff....
The GameWrecker thinks its the other way around... that the white is the maximum strength and the orange the weakest....
So - the PowerHouse lights - 3 I believe, facing Sabeera's house up on the Crescent... a deep golden colour - Medium strength? The deep orange single that burns in the church tower porthole window is a weak signal????
Silly, but the animal instinct persists in thinking the orange are the more interesting and fascinating....
The three huge machines on the freeway bridge each had huge orange lights (ja, sodium no doubt, the same as all the new overhead freeway lights..)
I watched as I puffed on the Orbitrek this morning, and was astonished to see the length of the precast wall surrounding the Senior Boys Hostel suddenly lit with a pale light.... then it vanished..
I'm certain the source wasn't Mo's house at No. 2 so wheretf did it come from? I see the lower branches of the ficus trees bordering the Sherwood flyoff from Westville have been drastically pruned. Could it have come from there or a house in Piedmont? Lovely stuff....
It's now 11.05am and as I write, loaded taxis are heading noisily into the City centre for the big strike.
I have to wonder what sudden out-of-town function the Yellow-Bellied City Manager will be attending *hawks and spits....
If Durban was deemed the best municipality in the country, I tremble for the other cities ratepayers....
The only award that is truly fitting here in Durban, is the Best Ongoing Corruption Trophy...*sigh....
If we were truly the best run Muni, why then have the workers gone out on strike? What a crock!
Looking at my album, I see the surveyor dude first pitched up at Bali's house on the 7th May. One month and a week later and the plans have been drawn and passed.. amazing speed...*laughs...
May I venture to guess that Captain Courageous did not even have to submit the plans to be granted permission to extend? That things like by-laws are waived in his case? Just a guess of course....
No follow-up call from Missus Courageous last night, as I was half expecting (to sign the consent form).
Did His Royal Shiftyness get the hump with my blogged request of stipulations to be met, Before their consent forms are signed by the GameWrecker?
I would strongly advise that you watch this space..... *beams....
I contend that they will go ahead with the Loft room and Double- garage whether we sign or not. By-laws do NOT apply to my Hero in any way....*grins...
When I showed the GameWrecker the letter I had typed for the Homeowner at No. 6 to sign, he threw himself into his Procrastination Mode as always. While he is in full agreement regarding the lighting and windows, he felt that the cost of raising the wall should be borne by the Courageous Couple... Turns out he had the wrong wall in mind, haha....
So the letter blogged previously can pretty much be scrapped, though I wouldve been happy to pay for Missus Courageous' excellent builder *smiles...
Arguing with the GameWrecker is pointless and a lose/lose situation - and the result may well have been another "I signed under duress" debacle...*collapses snorting....
The chopper has been over several times this morning, carefully flying SouthEast and then back again.... activating last night's work done on the Freeway bridge?
It's just gone by again, this time over by Sparks Road...busy busy...
An army chopper went by about 15 minutes ago as well... that one would be for the Strikers no doubt....
About an hour ago I went up to clean the car and stood watching as a huge lorry with a claw grabber pulled up next to the mountain of rubble on Bert's verge. Much discussion between the wekkers ensued, culminating in the driver strolling down the pavement and going behind a tree.... he then proceeded to take a dump *cackles...
See now, uncivilized as it may seem - I seriously don't have a problem with that.... sure he could've banged on Bert's gate and asked to use the facilities, but who in their right mind would let a stranger onto the property?
What else can I tell you?
A plumber is mending a broken pipe at Sue the Book's house today. A plumber supplied by Brian Osborne.. will he do a standard repair job. or add little extras as the wekkers did next door here at No. 10? Anyone's guess...
I watched Cyril Bhagiratee arrive back home before 8.00am, and find himself stuck out in the road as his electric gates jammed.... Scary, as they were hijacked right there last year sometime... of course his son is on the Grid, so its unlikely his gates would be deliberately jammed...
It's going to be so easy to do, once this Data Theft Program is fully installed countrywide.
Control via your power supply right?
The demonstrations given by the wondrous Captain Courageous, have proved beyond a doubt, how simple it is to isolate each jackpoint in a house, and mess with whatever appliances are plugged in (including electric gates) and of course the even more amazing trick of dropping your cellphone signal and stopping dead your battery run CD player.... *chuckles... would I lie to you baby? Pfff.....
At some point yesterday, the dogs started going mental....even Rotunda here, took off out the front. I sort of thought, monkeys? Sure enough, I eventually spotted a full-grown vervet monkey sitting in Bali's tibouchina tree....
I went in and fetched a banana, but he had already headed back up to the Crescent by then, with hysterical dogs mapping his progress.
An hour or so ago, the large black sparrow hawk landed clumsily in the dead mulberry tree, sending hordes of feeding doves nipping for cover..
Look, I know I am fortunate to have the time to sit and see all this marvellous stuff...but seriously, do you ever take the time to show your kids these things? To drag your char lady outside to see a Goliath heron stalking gracefully down by the stormwater drain in the valley?
Do you jump up and down with excitement when a huge flock of pelicans fly over in formation? Sure, these things don't pay the bills, but if you can get your kids to feel just a part of the pleasure these sights bring me, you will have done good....*beams...
The hasty upgrading of the truly skuzzy little buildings down by the Servant's Quarters/Ablution block, over at St. Theresa's, has been duly noted..
The wekkers will at least be able to develop their tumors in slightly better surroundings? *laughs grimly....
And last:
Mon Capitano is in a merry mood this evening....*grins... at 6.00pm I heard someone shouting outside the kitchen in the dark. I go out to find a Debonairs delivery man with an order for Gogo (Granny) at No. 8 Harris Crescent.....*falls over cackling....
Alas, a slight downgrade from the cutie that arrived here some years back, riding a VERY expensive motorbike, with a similar unordered delivery.... yes, pizzaboy was indeed cute, and had the grace to laugh with me......
Peace...
