UNDER NO ILLUSION......
So - Wednesday afternoon we had the Corruption Award Show.
Comes Wednesday night and I didn't see a single dip in our electrical system right up until bedtime. Freaky.....
Then on to yesterday (Thursday) even weirder.. I'm up the top at 5.15am and pretty much only the hallway light is on over at the orphanage itself. This lack of light show was however, More than compensated for by the Senior Boys Building which faces the Freeway and beyond that, Mayville. All systems go in fact.
Being my day out yesterday, I flew over to Liv first and was greatly amused to find she's been given her own white box since I was last there a few weeks ago. Obviously the PTB considered the big MF skulking under the mango?tree to be unequal to the task of monitoring what?
Happily, Liv is one that really appreciates the monitoring and fully believes it will work miracles with the crime situation *chokes......
Which reminds me... boring as this may be.... our CPF Rep to the GOCOC reported back that der Kommissar would like the lower end of Harris Crescent to reconsider hiring a guard. (this would be since the Sabeera burglary debacle?)
Well see, heres the thing.... no guard, whether on a bike or on foot could satisfactorily and safely, monitor the valley access points to our properties. So we would in effect be asking residents from Cassim up to Mr. Essay, to cough up further funds for an extremely vulnerable system.
Plus - you have the 5 Moth Cottages which are Supposedly housing people with lower incomes, Findlay Hall for the retired and the Home for the Blind, not to mention the Assessment Centre (which certainly does pull its weight security wise) and the Cripple Care buildings.
So, to ask all these people (who, unlike those higher up the Crescent where money appears so clearly to be no object),are patently struggling to make ends meet, to fork out more $ for a flawed security system, would be pointless.
This is of course, only my opinion and worth the usual derision no doubt. And i wish to repeat here that under the circumstances having endured the stumblings and fumblings of the 2005 Big Brother tests, we down this end deserve only the best of monitoring and a higher standard than has so far been displayed at NO further cost to ourselves!
When I went up in the early evening I was happy to see one of the 'jungle gym' structures outside the convent Rec. centre, literally covered in kids. Startling and something I've never noticed before heheh...
If it was for my benefit and to further allay my fears I do appreciate it but would still be interested to know whether any of these kids, in say 3 years time, develop a green glow or worse.
Oops! Hang on!!! These are orphans remember....
and many are no doubt HIV positive?
So whether they display adverse effects to all this EMF kak, it will be put down to their HIV status right?
A truly monumentally brilliant and far-sighted plan. It fits perfectly with the picture I have of the EE Techno boffins minus conscience and compassion. *sigh......
In a similar vein from the Mercury published last Wednesday Jan. 24th a few choice snippets with regard to a dodgy electricity tender awarded last year....
'The award of a lucrative multimillon-rand electrical maintenance tender by the eThekwini Municipality, which is alleged to be "riddled with irregularities", is under judicial scrutiny in an attempt to have the contract set aside once and for all. At stake is the honesty and credibility *totally hysterical laughter at this point, of municipal officials who were involved in awarding the contract last year and who have now been accused of misleading the court.
and...
..the municipality had shown a complete disregard for due process and the law and its representatives were accused of manipulative and irregular conduct.... end quotes....
*laughing here.... dear heavens, the entire Muni is now so riddled with corruption it is crazy to single out one department but there you go... the tip of the iceberg indeed and Fully applies to the Big Brother Scheme as well.. though I figure irregular is an understatement haha..
And so, by last night the electrical dips in our system were back in full force and still going when I went off to bed.
Just prior to that I took Sophie outside at about 8.30pm and I think just about every light and aerial and sensor over the way on the convent has been activated. What a fantastic sight! (though not the church roof or tower on this particular occasion now I come to think of it)
This morning a Muni Blue-suited individual sitting next to the brightly coloured water line marker in the valley facing me. *yawn...
I took his picture to add to my album.
Chopper (a rare sight these days) over at 9.35am.
And hows the huge water runoff on the Freeway fly-off to Sherwood/Mayville doing guys? Very useful? *falls about.....
That lake that lay overnight certainly had the stench of corruption hanging over it.
and finally, to show that I've by no means forgotten the brave and heroic Captain Courageous, who is no doubt madly plotting further meanness for the weekend even as I type this - I muse here about his new transport system.
Where is the beemer?
The GameWrecker says the Courser bakkie is wearing the Beemers fancy wheels so....
a genuine prang and that particular techno toy gone forever?? or, my favourite guess ...- a deliberate down-sizing to fit the picture of an honest, hardworking citizen? *doubles over cacklin.....
