POWDER KEG...

(begun Wednesday 21st July at 4.00am...)

You're a fickle bunch, and that's an understatement.. I hear myself going on and on, dredging up the same repetitive points, ad infinitum, for what?  That your ADD will hold off long enough for you to finally connect the dots?  That you've not already lost interest and moved on to join a new lynch mob with a fresher, more entertaining victim?  *sighs...

There'd be a wrong number call, or the quad bike would roar in to the valley below... Traditionally there's generally been a distraction created once I begin blogging online.. Mostly the Twins were used, and he'd let them out on the road where they'd cause an uproar before eventually racing along the valley and in under my wall... Course, that's no longer a viable option since Pepsi was culled...*shrugs..

Old habits die hard, and today the old phone-call ruse was used quite neatly... Whether it was more than just a simple distraction or was in some way necessary to make my typing available to more than just our crooked Network Admin, by playing for time, I wouldn't know..
The minute I heard Zaid's voice I was reduced to an uncontrollable fit of laughter...

I've sobered up somewhat by now and thinking it over, I repeat what I said in a previous blog.. The young Captain should watch his back.. While the Crumb will pat him outwardly and praise each performance as Oscar-winning material, there is still the matter of One-Eyed Jack sitting sullenly in the wings, brooding over his own downfall... A criminal who has been permitted by the Druglord to retain the program that gives him access to the phonelines and cameras dotted about the Zone..
Where do you think Balliram's loyalty would lie, were he forced to choose? Were Nayager in his jealous rage to suggest Soobrathi is getting too big for his boots (ie the community like him) and requested el Monstro's help to teach the young whippersnapper a lesson, would either Balliram or the Crumb demur?
I would suggest the Captain err on the side of caution and treat both Nayager and his long time 'special' buddy Balliram, as LIVE at all times...

Both have after all, proven to be more than a little in touch with their feminine side.. Nayager and his balletic dive after Augustine tapped him the once, and the subsequent list of imaginary damages caused to his outraged personage, should have the community referring to him as Glenda for years to come..
Perfectly matched with that other sissy of note, who's petty behaviour rivals that of the cattiest of females, Balliram would empathise totally with der Kommissar's injured pride and rush to his aid...
*As I scribble here in the back room, the second cordless phone which rests in it's cradle, chirrups quietly behind me..*

LATER at 4.45pm..

Balliram's gate arm hangs down uselessly while the dogs up in the street go nuts as pedestrians make their way home after work...
Has the Creep come to regret bragging endlessly of how he watches my every move?  How nothing on the property can move without he sees and hears it?  There are those of you who are well aware of the invisible cameras that can be activated at the tap of a key, throughout the area.... Maybe for once he employed caution and told mainly those who live elsewhere and not here in the Zone, but you're out there fosho.... You sleep well at night?  All thick-skinned, and imagining yourselves safe from fall-out?  We shall see...

LATER at 5.05pm

I've just been through to the lounge to find we've lost our TV screen... Problems with his electric gates, mean problems for our home.. What did I tell you.... *snorts...

Thursday 22nd July at 3.20am...

We'd gone on to the Wimpy after Monday night's CPF Meeting and as luck would have it, had bumped into our elusive Ward Councillor and his Missus.. Our little group hadn't held back, and he'd sat with us very briefly and switched on to his Politico Automatic... If I see it so clearly, why don't they?  *shakes head... The chap is following orders from higher up the chain of command and there ain't no help coming from that quarter, period.   *shrugs...
His Missus heard me out, smiling a little, but alas, she will hang up on me saying I've the wrong number, just as she always does when I call... *grins..

The GW came through to the lounge last night to say he'd seen the reason for the electrician working on the Creep's garage roof.. The big light at the top of the drive and it's twin on the garage wall facing their house have been re-activated after a fairly long break... Sceptic that the GW is, I suggested he look out for sudden new pains in his joints as a result of these lights and will note their reactivation on the calendar just in case..*interested..
It's likely el Monstro will claim they're back on for security purposes, which is fine by me...

The Reservist rang last night.. He'd been passing and seen a white taxi sitting on the verge a bit higher up, with two occupants... Did I want him to alert the guys at Dodge?  Kind, but I declined and explained about the Flame Lily Trustee's paying tenants and left it at that... Sure, its a breach in security, as it's impossible to tell whether it's a taxi carrying would-be criminals or merely colleagues of No. 7's tenant.. The vehicle is in full view of Nayager's cameras and I've no doubt it's regular arrival has been noted for possible inclusion in one of der Kommissar's carefully engineered crimes somewhere down the line.... *hopes Newton is aware of this..

There'd been a column in one of the two main Sunday papers last weekend where Eskom again exhorted Joe Public to cut back on electricity usage and to save where they could.. I skipped past the headline hastily in an effort to avoid imploding with rage.... Sure, compared to the majority, you and I are spoiled rotten, but to insist that I endure a cold bath and forgo turning on a heater on the odd occasion it's bitter cold, in order that the likes of Balliram may invade my privacy, is pushing it... *snarls...
The fact that you all accept the situation shows just how brainwashed you've become... Mile upon mile of overheads burning brightly during daylight hours, huge power gobblers such as the Moses Mabidha Stadium activated even when not in use, the MTB at Howard college lit up long after daybreak, and still you sit silent telling yourselves what, FFS?!

That it's OK for the Fatcats at Eskom to award themselves huge bonuses, that it's fine for the crooked Town Clerk to pocket an obscene salary, as these are the people who are working the hardest to save the country, with the Muni's Wireless/Broadband Network system?  *chokes...

That the few additional outdoor lights it's been recommended you add to your property, won't make a difference to the power grid one way or the other.. You think?  Have you stepped out onto your verandah after dark lately?  Instead of cutting back on usage, it's like bloody fairyland out there!   But, but, there's criminals lurking everywhere and the lights deter them.... *coughs... Really?
Hunker down and enjoy the diversion of the WUG communities and keep your fingers crossed that the Organised Crime Bosses employed by the Project Authors don't have YOUR home marked down for a visit...
Participation and loyalty to the Cause hasn't saved the Good Man up at No. 16, and nor will it necessarily save you..*blinks.. Take your bitter medicine obligingly and continue to tell yourselves it'll all be worth it in the end, as the rich get richer and the poor grow justifiably angrier at their neglect...
A powder keg kept in check by the Big Brother technology?  Man, I dont think so...

LATER at 5.55am..

I've been sitting out on the verandah watching the little dogs insist there's something just the other side of the Scrabble-Player's wall... A tiny light down the bank of the bluff on the freeway side of the valley got me up to fetch the glasses... It grew as I watched and I realise the Arsonist is at it again...
In the employ of Nayager and Balliram or Mr. Dawood of the Roseann.cc.?  Your guess etc....
Way up the other end of the little valley beyond the Good Man's property, is about where the latest arrivals were camped out a week ago... I've seen their early morning campfire smoke swirl from that corner long before sunrise... It's a simple matter for them to jog through the Park, across Harris Crescent and up the lane and be waiting nearby the bustop to mug an unsuspecting pedestrian...
It's likely the hoodie that strolled by as I chatted to B.Snr at my gates had Missus Bernies daughter's cellphone stashed neatly in the backpack he was wearing.. Heading down towards Cato Crest to exchange it for a few ronts?  *vomits..

The same band of thieves that removed the precast panel down at No. 2 last Friday, then bent the burglar bars and made off with their loot at 5pm in the afternoon, before trotting back up to their camp to count the spoils?
Call the cops and have them sweep the valley?  You're kidding me!  The minute Nayager or his 'special' friend heard my call, they'd warn the thieves to clear out fast... *belches.. Between your obliging participation and the Muni's Networking system, you've handed yourselves over to the Corrupt on a plate.. Cest la vie...

LATER at 6.35am..

Finding our garage door unlocked occasionally can easily be ascribed to advancing senility... Finding it unlocked regularly may be regarded as goonda-style posturing.. I've been aware for years of the ease that old door may be accessed and the car tampered with..*yawns... In fact, the big bunch of skeleton keys found in my friend's yard at No. 4 some ten years ago, is probably still doing the rounds.. *belches..

Friday 23rd July at 4.00am..

B.Snr. insisted that the house alarm at No. 2 didn't make a sound last Friday, during the breakin.. The thieves had apparently avoided the inside beams by covering themselves with blankets and had found a window left open... Why no house alarm?  *looks at the Power Supply Controller...  It's gone off randomly at odd times all week, along with No. 16's and our Network Admins own alarm.. A fault on the powerlines?  You can bet there is... *snorts..

While the electrician's visit on Wednesday has the two additional lights running beautifully, it's certainly not fixed the dodgy electric gates after all.. *shrugs.. The GW's newly acquired 'tinnitus' disappeared yesterday and hadn't returned by the time I went to bed last night.. Neato...
Mine OTOH, is cranked to the max as I sit here scribbling in the early hours..*grins.. It's fairly weird to know that our Controller can simply switch it off when he chooses... *eyeroll...

Peace..
